Evan Fong or better known as VanossGaming from his YouTube channel is a Canadian YouTube Gaming commentator and entrepreneur. His empire includes one of the largest Youtube channels in the world, he also has his own apparel merchandise line and gaming app. He is the second highest-earning YouTuber of 2018, earning $15.5 million, as per the latest list released by Forbes Magazine. (The first name on the list is of the English YouTuber Dan Middleton, with $16.5 million annual earnings).
Originally from Toronto, Canada, Evan attended college at the Richmond Hill High School where he studied economics. After High School, he got admission in the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA, he left his studies of economics midway during his second year to focus on his YouTube channel.
Evan set up his YouTube channel VanossGaming in September 2011 when he was only 19 years old. In 2013 he celebrated his first big milestone when he first reached 1 million subscribers to the channel. His channel now has over 22 million subscribers and over 9 billion views ranking him as the 26th largest channel on Youtube identifying him as a central figure in the growing video game commentary subculture. Not only does Evan generate a significant amount of money from advertisements on his channel, he is also heavily endorsed and sponsored by large video gaming networks to promote their games. According to Forbes, sponsors such as Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty are said to have dished out as much as $450,000 to feature on his site.
Like most successful Youtube stars Evan Fong capitalized on his success as a brand and enterprise by starting his own apparel and merchandise line under the site vanoss.3blackdot.com. The site sells a limited amount of products which range from hoodies at $49.99 to Fidget Spinners at $9.99. Although his Youtube channel is where he initially gained his success the marketing for his merchandise comes from his social media accounts – with over 3 million followers on Instagram, 2 million likes on Facebook and 3 million followers on Twitter his merchandise site receives over 1 million visitors a month with 80% of the visitors to the site driven their through his social media accounts.
Brand & Logo
The brand and logo for VanossGaming is a variation of either a white or gold Owl on a black background. This became the symbol for all things Vanoss related. The logo was updated in 2015 to coincide with the release of his apparel line and merchandise. The minimalist design is featured on all of his products and sites and is based of the owl mask on his Fong character on Grand Theft Auto.

Evan Fongs interest in YouTube sparked in 2007 after being inspired by ‘SeaNanners’ and ‘Whiteboy7thst’. He often used his father’s account ‘Vanoss62’ in his early days, and so while selecting a name for his own Youtube channel, he took the first name “Vanoss” and created the account as “VanossGaming”. Vanoss represents VANOS, a variable valve timing system produced by German automobile company BMW. His site first starting gaining attention after he uploaded a series of videos titled ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II ‘Funny Moments.’ This was the tipping point and these videos helped him garner a lot of subscribers for his channel. He almost never shows his face in his videos. Initially he used ‘Iron Man’ or ‘Batman’ for his character model, but later he started using ‘The Night Owl’ model. Evan first appeared on camera in July 2013, in a “Thank You” video celebrating the attainment of one million subscribers. He has attained meteoric rise to stardom with exceedingly high statistics because he is known for his authenticity and creating unique entertaining content for regular “video games playing” people.
